Physical & Personnel Security Lead - Inside IR35 - SC Cleared

The Physical & Personnel Security Lead is responsible for ensuring robust protection of people, facilities and sensitive assets within a secure defence programme. The role owns physical security controls, personnel security processes, and assurance activities supporting classified operations.

This position plays a critical role in safeguarding programme integrity across facilities, workforce and supply chain interfaces.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead physical security strategy and controls across secure sites

• Oversee personnel security processes, including access controls and clearance compliance

• Ensure facilities and operating environments meet defence security requirements

• Conduct security risk assessments related to people, locations and assets

• Manage incidents related to physical or personnel security breaches

• Interface with programme leadership, security assurance and operational teams

• Support audits, inspections and continuous improvement of security posture

Required Experience & Capability

• Strong background in physical and/or personnel security within secure environments

• Experience operating within defence, government or similarly regulated programmes

• Knowledge of access control systems, secure facilities and workforce vetting processes

• Ability to balance operational delivery with governance and assurance requirements

• Confident engaging with senior stakeholders and operational teams

Security & Working Environment

• SC clearance required (minimum)

• Secure defence facilities with classified access

• Hybrid working: Reading site, 2-3 days per week

Contract Summary

• Contract role, inside IR35, £500 - £550 p/d

• Reading-based, hybrid working, 2 - 3 days per week onsite (expensible)
