NHS Operational Improvement Consultant – Acute Flow & LoS IR35 Status: Outside Location: East of England (on-site presence required)Contract Length: 6 months (starting ASAP)Interview Process: Up to 2 stagesWe are supporting a digitally enabled transformation programme focused on improving flow and length of stay (LoS) in an acute hospital setting. This work will be delivered in partnership with frontline clinical and operational teams and is expected to result in measurable performance improvements across the patient journey.Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and support operational improvement initiatives within an acute trust, with a focus on patient flow and reducing length of stay.
- Collaborate with ward-level teams, including doctors, nurses, and operational staff, to diagnose issues and co-design solutions.
- Utilise insights from technology platforms (e.g. electronic patient record systems) to inform and support change.
- Drive delivery and embed improvements through close engagement with site stakeholders.
- Maintain regular reporting and communication to track outcomes, unblock challenges, and ensure alignment with wider strategic goals.
- Proven experience in operational improvement within an NHS acute trust setting.
- Familiarity with digitally-enabled improvement programmes, ideally leveraging electronic patient record (EPR) systems or similar platforms.
- Comfortable operating on wards, engaging frontline clinical and operational teams.
- Ability to work autonomously and adapt to varying delivery intensity (e.g. go-live phases).
- Minimum of 3 days per week on-site.
- During peak periods, up to 5 days of on-site availability may be required.
