Business Analyst - Derivatives 1245 - Contract
Role Overview
The Business Analyst will be responsible for analysing business requirements, working closely with developers to test and release solutions, and ensuring that technology aligns closely with front-office needs. Strong communication, facilitation, and negotiation skills are essential, as the role involves regular interaction with senior trading stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities- Partner with derivatives traders and technology teams to define requirements, propose solutions, and drive decision-making
- Act as a bridge between business and IT, brokering consensus and managing stakeholder expectations
- Work closely with developers to deliver solutions and support user acceptance testing (UAT)
- Provide third-line support to traders where required
- Ensure front-office technology usage is aligned to revenue generation and trading objectives
- Proactively identify opportunities for improvement and recommend pragmatic solutions
- Good working knowledge of Python (or a similar programming language) and SQL
- Experience working with large, complex data sets
- Comfortable interfacing with mathematical or pricing models
- Experience with an ETRM system and understanding of the trade life cycle is highly desirable
- Self-starter, able to operate effectively with limited guidance
- Collaborative team player, achieving results through shared initiatives
- Strong ability to translate complex business problems into clear IT solutions
- Proven experience delivering complex initiatives in an agile environment
- Comfortable working to tight deadlines and negotiating in a pressurised setting
- Strong facilitation, influencing, and stakeholder management skills
- Excellent written, verbal, and presentation communication
- Resilient and adaptable in a fast-growing, high-pressure business
