Job Title : Investment Associate

Salary : £40,000 – £52,000 per annum (dependent on experience)

Employment Type : Full-Time, Permanent

Location : Hybrid – Sedgefield

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Investment Associate to join a growing team focused on investor engagement and venture development. As part of a small, agile, and motivated group, the successful candidate will play a key role in connecting private investors with high-growth, early-stage technology companies.

The mission is to drive innovation and investment across the UK economy through strategic partnerships and the development of new ventures.

The Role

Reporting to the Head of Investor Partnerships, the Investment Associate will be responsible for:

  • Researching and analysing the private investment community to inform business development activities.
  • Supporting relationship management with investors and partners.
  • Assisting senior management with portfolio oversight and evaluation of new investment opportunities.
  • Preparing investor briefings, due diligence reports, and investment committee materials.
  • Using internal tools and frameworks to assess investment opportunities.
  • Recommending and improving processes for tracking key performance metrics.

Essential Requirements:

  • Qualified to degree or master’s level (or equivalent) in a Scientific, Engineering, or Business-related discipline such as Marketing, Finance, or Economics.
  • Significant experience in strategic marketing, finance, or investment analysis.
  • Demonstrable knowledge of early-stage technology investing.
  • Proven ability to analyse complex data and present clear, actionable business recommendations.
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills, with experience working in cross-functional teams.
  • Proficiency in Excel and MS Office 365, with strong data analysis and presentation abilities.

Desirable Experience:

  • Background in venture capital, family offices, or high-net-worth investor networks.
  • Experience within innovation, R&D, or technology commercialisation environments.
  • Knowledge of the UK innovation and investment ecosystem.
  • Experience with data automation tools (e.g. Excel VBA, Python, Microsoft Flow).
