About the Role:
SS&C Technologies is seeking a proactive and results-driven Business Development Manager to play a key role in generating new business for our Print and Document Solutions business. As part of a growing commercial team, you will focus on building and managing a strong pipeline of prospective clients, generating demand for our inbound mailroom, document processing, print production, and customer communications solutions.
In this role, you will be responsible for identifying and engaging organisations that require secure, scalable, and compliant document management services, including inbound post handling, document digitisation, print and fulfilment services, regulatory communications, and customer correspondence. You will focus on the early stages of the sales cycle, prospecting, engaging decision-makers, and creating opportunities that lead to long-term client partnerships.
You will have the opportunity to work independently while collaborating closely with operational, solution design, and marketing teams to develop tailored solutions that address client challenges and business objectives.
What You Will Get to Do:
- Lead Generation - Proactively identify and develop new business opportunities for SS&C's print, mailroom, document management, and customer communication solutions across target industries, including financial services, insurance, pensions, utilities, and public sector organisations.
- Prospecting & Outreach - Utilise a range of outreach methods including telephone, email, social media, networking events, and industry referrals to engage prospective clients and generate interest in SS&C's services.
- Pipeline Management - Build, manage, and maintain a robust sales pipeline through effective CRM utilisation, ensuring timely follow-up and progression of opportunities through the sales cycle.
- Client Discovery & Qualification - Engage with prospective clients to understand their current document management, print, and mailroom operations, identifying opportunities to improve efficiency, compliance, customer experience, and cost control.
- Solution Development - Work closely with operational and solution teams to develop tailored proposals encompassing inbound mail management, document scanning and digitisation, print production, fulfilment, electronic communications, and customer correspondence solutions.
- Sales Reporting - Provide accurate pipeline forecasts, activity reporting, and opportunity updates to sales leadership, ensuring visibility of performance and future revenue opportunities.
- Networking & Market Development - Represent SS&C at industry events, conferences, exhibitions, and client meetings to expand market presence, develop relationships, and generate new business opportunities.
- Market Intelligence - Stay informed on industry trends, regulatory developments, customer communication strategies, print technologies, and competitive offerings to position SS&C effectively in the market.
What You Will Bring:
- Proven experience in business development, lead generation, or sales within print services, document management, mailroom outsourcing, business process outsourcing (BPO), customer communications management, or related industries.
- Strong hunter mentality with a track record of identifying, developing, and converting new business opportunities.
- Experience selling managed services, outsourcing solutions, or operational services to mid-market and enterprise organisations.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and relationship-building skills with the ability to engage senior decision-makers.
- Proficiency with CRM systems and pipeline management tools.
- Self-motivated, highly organised, and comfortable managing multiple opportunities simultaneously.
- Ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced environment with a focus on achieving revenue and growth targets.
- Willingness to travel for client meetings, industry events, and business development activities as required.
Preferred but Not Essential:
- Knowledge of inbound mailroom operations, document scanning and digitisation, print production, fulfilment services, or customer communications management.
- Experience working with highly regulated industries such as financial services, pensions, insurance, healthcare, or utilities.
- Understanding of compliance requirements relating to customer communications, data protection, and document retention.
