Privacy Counsel
SSQ is working with a market-leading international organisation looking to hire a Data Privacy Counsel into a highly regarded in-house legal and risk function.
This is an excellent move for:
• Associates considering their first step in-house, who want proper support and development
• In-house qualified lawyers looking for stronger training, structure, and progression
It’s genuinely a “best of both worlds” role, offering hands-on exposure alongside a clear development pathway.
The role:
You’ll work closely with legal, privacy, information security, and risk teams, gaining broad exposure across data protection and commercial matters in a collaborative, well-supported environment.
What you’ll be doing:
- Advising on UK GDPR and Data Protection Act compliance
- Supporting commercial and data protection contracting (DPAs, SCCs)
- Advising on data subject rights, international transfers, cookies, and e-marketing
- Assisting with DPIAs and records of processing activities
- Researching regulatory developments, enforcement trends, and case law
- Helping develop policies, templates, and training materials
About you:
- NQ–3 PQE (or equivalent)
- Experience in private practice or in-house across commercial contracts and data protection
- Strong drafting skills and commercial awareness
- Keen to build specialist expertise in data privacy within a structured environment
If you’re weighing up your first move in-house, or looking for a role that offers both quality work and long-term progression, this is well worth a conversation.
