The Role:
We are looking for an experienced SAP Archive Specialist (OpenText ILM Consultant) to support a large-scale SAP transformation programme. You will contribute to greenfield implementations, rollouts, enhancements, and steady-state operations on SAP with RISE. Your role will be critical in configuring and optimising SAP Data & Document Archiving and Information Lifecycle Management (ILM) across ECC, S/4HANA, and BW/4HANA landscapes. This includes enabling the technical setup required to support SIT, UAT, and performance testing prior to and following go-live.
Key responsibilities:
- Own the design, implementation, and operational delivery of SAP Data & Document Archiving and ILM across SAP ECC, S/4HANA, and BW/4HANA environments.
- Integrate SAP with OpenText components (Archive Server/Center, Document Access) and/or SAP Content Server via ArchiveLink to ensure performant, compliant, and cost-efficient storage.
- Collaborate with BASIS, Security, and Business Process teams to manage data growth, define retention strategies (GDPR/SOX/HIPAA), and enable seamless retrieval of business documents.
- Ensure system configurations and archiving strategies meet compliance, operational efficiency, and audit requirements.
- Support archiving readiness for SIT, UAT, performance testing, and go-live cycles.
Your Profile
Essential skills/knowledge/experience:
- Strong knowledge of SAP ADK (Archive Development Kit), SARA, SARI, and OpenText ArchiveLink.
- Deep knowledge of OpenText Archive Center, Document Access, and Extended ECM.
- Experience with SAP S/4HANA or SAP Business Suite, HANA Database, and Archive Server administration.
- Solid understanding of ArchiveLink architecture, Storage Categories, and foundational ABAP for analysing archiving objects.
- Ability to run production archiving/ILM jobs, monitor throughput, troubleshoot ArchiveLink RFC/HTTP issues, and perform system health checks.
- Strong collaboration skills, working closely with BASIS, Security, Business Process teams, vendors, and external partners.
- Knowledge of GDPR, SOX, HIPAA compliance requirements, including legal holds, defensible deletion, audit trails, and policy documentation.
Desirable skills/knowledge/experience:
- Hands-on experience with SAP SARA configuration, ArchiveLink repositories, storage categories, and early/late archiving setups.
- Strong troubleshooting across RFC/HTTP Content Server, ArchiveLink queues, and high-volume archiving runs.
- Familiarity with BW/4HANA NLS/NSE and S/4HANA-specific archiving considerations.
- Experience with advanced ILM (residence/retention management, legal holds, legacy system decommissioning).
- Strong OpenText expertise, including Document Access, Enterprise Scan, Document Pipeline tuning, and high availability/DR setup for Archive Center.
- Experience with automation and scripting (Perl, Shell) and ABAP exits/BADIs for monitoring and automation.
- Exposure to DVM tooling and third-party solutions (e.g., PBS, TJC) for analytics, purge/hybrid strategies.
- Experience supporting S/4HANA conversions, including archiving cutover plans and test cycles.
- Experience delivering SAP CQC services (especially CQC for Data Volume Management) and managing remediation plans.
