Lead Engineer

Lead Data Engineer

Norwich / Hybrid (4 days in office - 1x WFH)

£65,000–£75,000 + Benefits

Full-time, Permanent

We are recruiting an experienced Lead Data Engineer to take ownership of the development of a business-wide Single Customer View (SCV) and help shape the organisation’s wider data architecture.

This is a high-impact role for someone who enjoys solving complex data problems and wants to see their work directly influence customer experience, marketing, commercial strategy and business decision-making.

You will bring together customer and audience data from multiple platforms to create a single, trusted and actionable view of customers and prospects.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Designing and developing the organisation’s Single Customer View / Customer 360
  • Building scalable ETL/ELT pipelines and automated data processes
  • Integrating data from CRM, websites, marketing platforms, events and other business systems
  • Developing data models and supporting the wider data architecture
  • Improving data quality, normalisation, matching and deduplication
  • Establishing identity resolution across multiple customer data sources
  • Supporting customer segmentation, reporting and personalisation
  • Developing data governance, stewardship and documentation standards
  • Supporting dashboards, BI tools and self-service reporting
  • Ensuring the data platform can support future AI and machine-learning initiatives

You will have strong experience across several of the following:

  • Data Engineering
  • SQL and database technologies
  • ETL / ELT development
  • Cloud-based data platforms
  • Data warehousing / lakehouse architecture
  • APIs and third-party integrations
  • Data modelling and normalisation
  • Data quality and validation
  • Customer identity resolution and deduplication
  • Data governance
  • BI and visualisation tools
  • CRM and marketing data

Experience developing a Single Customer View, Customer 360 or Customer Data Platform would be particularly valuable.

You’ll be technically strong but also commercially minded, with the ability to understand why the business needs the data rather than simply how to build it.

You’ll be comfortable working with fragmented datasets, challenging existing processes and working with both technical and non-technical stakeholders across the organisation.

This is an opportunity to play a significant role in transforming how a growing organisation uses its data and to build a data foundation that will support its future growth.
