Location: Central Cardiff (onsite but with flexibility)

Our client is an extremely ambitious digital product studio based in Cardiff. They build real things including a custom video player, enterprise software, scheduling platforms and work with wales's best sports organisations.

The role

This is a Lead role, mainly writing great code, but it also means helping the team think better shaping the technical roadmap, jumping on new ideas early, and working with clients to build industry leading platforms.

The stack includes:-

· Next.js(App Router, TypeScript)

· Payload CMS

· AWS Services - PostgreSQL on AWS RDS, S3 + CloudFront, EC3 and Application Load Balancer

· Tailwind CSS 4

· NextAuth.js v5 + Cognito

They're moving away from WordPress and leaning into more considered, scalable architecture.

Current projects include building and automating a licensing system across multiple departments, a streaming video platform using Vimeo and Zoom SDK, and a publishing site recently sense-checked and rebuilt with AI assistance.

What they need from you

You'll be at the table for product decisions -helping scope work properly, contributing to the software roadmap, and thinking about how products can be built to last and potentially licensed. Better scoping is something the business is actively improving, and you'll be part of shaping that.

Experience needed

• Strong PHP and React / React Native
• AWS experience
• Comfortable working across the full stack
• Experience with Payload CMS, or similar CMS's
• REST and GraphQL APIs
• Git workflows and CI/CD pipelines
• Some exposure to AI-assisted development
• Agile ways of working, ideally with tools like JIRA
