Senior Business Analyst
As a Senior Business Analyst (BA) you will be responsible for gathering and understanding the business needs of our client for a specific project or change initiative. You will work with the wider Project team to ensure your deliverables are completed in line with the agreed scope and timescales. In addition, you must think about these plans from a strategic perspective in relation to other initiatives being worked on by the client and with other Sagacity initiatives
- Responsible for leading the Business Analyst tasks on a medium to large complexity assignment (and demonstrating understanding) including:
- Understanding business strategies and goals, articulating problem statements and executing solutions
- Lead the development of comprehensive business cases to support the initiation of new projects, changes or improvement initiatives ensuring alignment with business objectives
- Documenting and mapping of ‘As Is’ and ‘To Be’ operational processes and procedures including interviewing SMEs, conducting workshops and gaining process approvals
- Identification and quantification of process improvements e.g. opportunities for efficiencies, system change / automation, use of additional data, governance and reporting
- Understanding and mapping customer journeys, identifying pain points and opportunities for improvement
- Ensuring that Business Requirements are fully developed, documented and prioritised with acceptance criteria
- Ensuring that Business Requirements are analysed fully, with appropriate engagement from the business teams including the review of current processes and data sources to ensure that they align with the business or project objectives
- Lead the business analysis activities including working with client and third-party supplier business analysts and technical teams, as appropriate, ensuring project governance is adhered to and that the management of BA tasks is always in control ensuring the team are kept updated on your work, able to communicate priorities, issues and where required escalate for BA support
- Always questioning the 'why, what, when' and 'so what' - adding value to a deliverable where possible
- Pack preparation / content for key meetings and meeting minutes / outputs produced in a timely manner
- Influencing and facilitating decisions including supporting evidence, justification and analysis for the options proposed
- Identifying roadblocks before they occur and flagging with your Project Manager/Client Lead to unblock
- Quality checking personal deliverables (and for fellow team members)
- Identifying opportunities for Continuous Improvement
- Must be able to design potential solutions to complex problems identified and demonstrate the ability to influence the business to show how the proposed solutions will deliver benefits and solve the problem identified
- Must have a detailed understanding of finance, accounting and business principles to help surface what operational issues exist and how best to address them (or experience of analysing the structure of a business to determine how it operates and determine its objectives)
- Must have experience in tracing requirements throughout their lifecycle and documenting this through a traceability matrix, demonstrating which requirements will be delivered and how, ensuring that this is communicated with key stakeholders
- Highly competent with documenting User Acceptance Testing Strategy and delivering the strategy where required
- Highly competent with documenting training material and delivering the training where required
- Responsible for identifying and submitting client development opportunities to the Commercial Product Management, Customer Engagement and Client Services Teams for increased sales opportunities
Requirements
- c. 5+ years experience in a Business Analyst role, ideally within a financial institution, telco or utilities provider
- Working experience of project and analysis techniques and supporting tools for requirement definition and documentation
- Excellent interpersonal, interviewing and presentation skills
- Highly competent at integrating with a team(s) and building relationships and rapport with clients
- Ability to work on own initiative as well as part of a team and can work independently with a client with little support from Senior Management
- High competency in applications such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Microsoft Visio, Outlook, Teams, Jira, Confluence
- Extensive knowledge of project delivery approaches such as Waterfall / Agile / Hybrid
- Extremely high competency and knowledge of Business Analysis Methodologies such as Business Process Modelling (BPM), MoSCoW, MOST, Six Sigma, Lean, Wireframes, CATWOE, Entity Relationships, PESTLE, The 5 Whys etc.) supported by relevant qualifications
- Exceptional people skills, including experience of mentoring less experienced roles, involvement in recruitment and potentially Line Manager responsibilities
