Project Support Administrator

Contract until 31/12/2026

Manchester - 1 day per week in the office

About us

We’re Salix and we’re on a mission to help save the planet. We enable and inspire organisations in the public and private sectors to achieve their ambitious net zero targets and create better places to live and work. We’re passionate about our work and proud to be on the journey with them.

We deliver government funding schemes to support councils, schools, housing associations, hospitals and universities boost their energy efficiency, reduce their impact on the environment, save money and remove households from fuel poverty. We work with the UK government and the devolved administrations in Scotland and Wales. As well as managing the funding schemes, we provide professional advice, expertise and support to grant recipients throughout all stages of their projects.

We also offer insight, intelligence and influence by sharing knowledge and lessons learnt from project delivery to help improve future schemes and policy development. We were created in 2004 and have been growing ever since. We now employ 200 people. Our principal office is in Manchester and we have a base at Canary Wharf in London.

If you share our passion for addressing the urgent challenge of climate change and contributing to the UK's ambitious decarbonisation goals, we want to connect with you!

About the role:

You'll provide the administrative and reporting support that keeps everything running behind the scenes. Rather than managing multiple competing priorities every day, you'll take ownership of a structured monthly cycle of activities, ensuring reports are produced on time, trackers are maintained, data is accurate and the wider team has the information they need to deliver successfully.

This role would suit someone who enjoys working with data, keeping things organised and taking pride in producing accurate, high-quality work.

What you'll be doing

You'll support our Project Support Officers by:

  • Producing and distributing programme reports using Excel and Power BI
  • Maintaining project trackers, risk logs and programme reporting
  • Monitoring deadlines and following up on outstanding actions
  • Supporting data quality and reconciliation activities
  • Preparing PowerPoint presentations and reporting packs
  • Coordinating communications with grant recipients
  • Supporting finance administration and programme tracking
  • Managing team calendars, meeting trackers and availability records
  • Providing day-to-day administrative support across the Housing team

About you

We're much more interested in finding the right person than someone who has done this exact role before.

You might already have experience in administration or project support, or you could be a recent graduate looking for your first professional role.

You'll be someone who:

  • Is highly organised and enjoys working in a structured way
  • Has excellent attention to detail
  • Is confident using Microsoft Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint
  • Enjoys working with data and spotting inconsistencies
  • Communicates confidently with colleagues and stakeholders
  • Takes ownership of their work and can manage their own workload
  • Is proactive, reliable and enjoys supporting a busy team

Experience with Power BI would be an advantage, but isn't essential if you're confident with Excel and keen to learn.

We'd particularly like to hear from

  • Project or programme administrators
  • PMO support administrators
  • Office administrators looking to move into project work
  • Recent graduates with strong IT skills and excellent attention to detail
  • Anyone with experience supporting project closure or governance activities (although this isn't essential)

What we offer

  • Hybrid working (minimum one day a week in our Manchester office)
  • Flexible working arrangements
  • Generous annual leave
  • Contributory pension scheme
  • Life assurance
  • Cycle to Work scheme
  • Public transport support
  • Learning and development budget
  • Employee Assistance Programme
  • CSSC membership benefits

Why join Salix?

This is an opportunity to gain valuable experience within a government-owned organisation delivering programmes that have a genuine impact on communities across the UK.

You'll join a supportive team, receive clear guidance and training, and play an important role in ensuring nationally significant housing programmes are delivered successfully.
