NHS Band 7 Information Governance Assurance Officer

Job summary

We are seeking an experienced Information Governance Assurance Officer to support delivery and assurance of Information Governance across the Trust.

The post holder will support and deputise for the Information Governance Assurance Manager and play a key role in coordinating the Data Security and Protection Toolkit (DSPT), supporting CQC Well-Led requirements, managing Subject Access Requests (SARs) and completing Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIAs). The role promotes a strong, risk-based Information Governance culture across the organisation.

Main duties

  • Support delivery of the Trust's Information Governance work programme
  • Coordinate and maintain DSPT compliance and assurance evidence
  • Complete and manage SARs, DPIAs and data protection risk assessments
  • Provide expert Information Governance advice to staff at all levels
  • Support IG audits, spot checks and incident management, including Datix
  • Develop and deliver IG training and awareness
  • Produce reports for senior committees, including Caldicott and IG Assurance
  • Deputise for the Information Governance Assurance Manager when required

Person specification (summary)

Essential

  • Degree-level education or equivalent experience
  • Formal qualification in Information Governance/Data Protection (or equivalent experience)
  • Strong knowledge of NHS Information Governance and data protection legislation
  • Experience handling sensitive and confidential information
  • Ability to analyse complex information and produce clear reports
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills
  • Ability to work independently and prioritise competing demands
