About the Opportunity

Sanderson is collaborating with a leading UK-based organisation seeking skilled Cloud Application Developers to support a platinum-level account. In this role, you’ll work as part of a multi-disciplinary team to design, build, and deliver high-availability, automated, cloud-native applications using AWS cloud technologies.

This is an opportunity to contribute to mission-critical projects , developing applications that power secure, modernised platforms and deliver real value in highly complex environments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with stakeholders to understand business requirements, technical context, and strategic goals
  • Design, build, and deploy scalable cloud applications across AWS environments
  • Implement innovative solutions using automation and modern software practices
  • Ensure applications meet security and compliance requirements
  • Provide input on emerging technologies and drive best practice adoption
  • Support testing, monitoring, and performance tuning to maintain high-availability services

Essential Skills & Experience

  • Strong software development background, ideally with cloud application delivery
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, React, or Go
  • Experience working with Linux environments and cloud-native development
  • Strong understanding of CI/CD pipelines , source control, and DevOps practices
  • Excellent collaboration and communication skills with the ability to work in Agile, fast-moving environments
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail

Desirable Skills & Technologies

  • Experience with AWS (preferred) or Azure deployments and architectures
  • Web application services: NGINX, Apache, JBoss
  • Experience with Test Driven Development (TDD) or Behaviour Driven Development (BDD)
  • API development and integration (Go preferred but not essential)
  • Familiarity with JavaScript front-end frameworks , HTML5, and CSS3
  • Understanding of asynchronous programming models
  • Knowledge of monitoring tools (ELK, Nagios, DataDog, Splunk, New Relic)
  • Experience with Atlassian Toolset (Jira, Confluence, etc.)
  • Understanding of databases and query languages
  • Awareness of identity and access management technologies (ADFS, OIDC, OAuth2, Keycloak, Red Hat SSO)

Security Clearance Requirements

Due to the nature of the work, candidates must be eligible for national security clearance . To meet this requirement, applicants must:

  • Be sole British citizens (dual nationality is not permitted)
  • Have not spent more than 30 consecutive days outside the UK in the past 10 years
  • Have no criminal record
  • Have no significant financial irregularities (e.g., bankruptcy, outstanding debt issues)
