Virtualisation Engineer

Position: Virtualisation Engineer
Location: Cheltenham/Gloucestershire
Salary band: £50,000 to £60,000 per annum
Clearance: Willingness to undergo a security clearance process is required

What You'll Be Doing

• Providing first and second-line technical support across complex virtualised environments
• Monitoring system performance to ensure stability, availability, and seamless functionality
• Creating and maintaining high-quality documentation to support operational excellence
• Supporting compliance with established processes, standards, and security policies

What You'll Bring

• Strong organisational and time-management skills
• Experience working to ITIL best practices
• A mindset focused on root-cause analysis and continuous improvement
• A collaborative approach - sharing knowledge and learning from others
• A proactive attitude towards identifying risks, issues, and opportunities

Desirable Skills

• Deep understanding of virtualisation technologies
• Experience installing, upgrading, configuring, or supporting: Windows Server 2016/2019, AWS, Azure
• Knowledge of Red Hat technologies (Satellite 6, OpenShift 3/4, RHEL/CentOS, CoreOS)
• Understanding of Active Directory (OU creation, RBAC, DFS)
• Familiarity with VSAN, SCVMM, Hyper-V
• Networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, DHCP, DNS, LAN/WAN)
• Scripting experience (PowerShell, Bash, Python, Git)
• Awareness of McAfee EPO/ENS
