  • £800 - £1400 p/d - Umbrella engagement - 6 - 12 month contract
  • London or Hampshire based 2/3 days per week
  • Champion modular SaaS adoption, API-first design, and cloud-native principles.

Overview:

To lead the design and delivery of our clients go-to digital and data platform for a key business area, using modular SaaS architecture - and the development of the in-house solution design and engineering capability required to scale and migrate customers and colleagues to the new platform and ways of working. This role will bridge business goals and technical execution ensuring architectural integrity, engineering excellence, and alignment with strategy and enterprise-wide transformation objectives.

Core elements of the role:

  • Define and own the solution architecture and platform tech and data design, aligned with business transformation goals and enterprise architecture principles.
  • Architect a composable platform using best-of-breed SaaS solutions, microservices, and event-driven architecture. Champion modular SaaS adoption, API-first design, and cloud-native principles.Oversee integration strategies (e.g., iPaaS, APIs, messaging) to ensure seamless data and process flows
  • Collaborate with C-level stakeholders, platform leadership peers and the team to translate business vision into technical roadmaps.
  • Govern architectural standards, patterns, and principles
  • Ensure interoperability, scalability, and resilience of the digital ecosystem.
  • Define capability development approach required to attract and build the talent, skills and behaviours required to ensure successful execution.
  • Lead a team of solution architects and engineering leads across domains.
  • Drive DevSecOps practices, CI/CD automation, and cloud-native engineering (preferably on Azure or AWS).
  • Promote engineering best practices, code quality, and technical debt management.
  • Ensure compliance with data protection (e.g., UK GDPR), security standards (e.g., ISO 27001), and regulatory requirements (e.g., FCA).
  • Manage architectural risk, technical debt, and vendor dependencies.

Key Skills & Experience

  • Proven experience in developing and leading solution architecture and engineering functions in large-scale, modular SaaS enabled digital transformations.
  • Deep knowledge of SaaS, cloud platforms (Azure/AWS), APIs, microservices, and data platforms. Knowledge of Salesforce multi product development and specifically insurance cloud, cloud, revenue cloud and service/experience cloud a benefit.
  • Strong understanding of insurance or regulated financial services.
  • Experience with enterprise architecture frameworks (e.g., TOGAF, Zachman).
  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
  • Familiarity with modular business architecture and MACH principles (Microservices, API-first, Cloud-native, Headless).
  • Experience with agile at scale (e.g., SAFe, LeSS).
  • Background in data architecture, analytics, or AI/ML platforms.
