Content Designer - Central Government
Content Designer - Central Government (Contract) Duration: 3 Months Rate: £375 - £400 per day (Inside IR35)Location: Remote with occasional travel to London
We are seeking an experienced Content Designer to support a large UK Central Government department on an initial 3-month contract. This role is ideal for someone who has previously worked in government environments and is confident operating within GDS standards.
The RoleYou will play a key role in creating clear, accessible, and user-centred content for public services. Working within multidisciplinary teams, you will help ensure content meets user needs while aligning with government standards and policy requirements.
Key responsibilities include:

Designing and iterating content for digital services within a large UK government organisation

Applying content design principles across complex, multi-channel services

Writing clear, concise, and accessible content in line with the GOV.UK style guide

Collaborating with product managers, user researchers, service designers, and developers

Using evidence, user research, and data to inform content decisions

Ensuring content meets GDS standards, accessibility requirements, and best practice
Essential experience:

Proven experience working as a Content Designer within Central Government

Strong knowledge of GDS, including hands-on experience with the GOV.UK Design System and style guide

Experience working in agile, multidisciplinary teams

Ability to communicate content decisions and rationale clearly to a range of stakeholders
