A leading organisation in a regulated industry is seeking an experienced DevOps & Automation Engineer to support the delivery of modern DevOps practices and automation initiatives. The role focuses on improving CI/CD, environment management, and automation capabilities, with an emphasis on ephemeral environments, scalable platforms, and self-service tooling.

You will work closely with delivery, engineering, and operations teams to support projects, modernise tooling, and drive automation across the technology estate.

Key Technologies & Tools

  • Experience with a selection of the following is desirable:
  • Infrastructure as Code: Terraform, Ansible
  • CI/CD: Azure DevOps, GitHub, GitHub Actions, Octopus Deploy
  • Containers & Orchestration: Kubernetes
  • Monitoring & Observability: Prometheus, Grafana, Datadog, OpenTelemetry
  • Automation & Low-Code Platforms: Power Automate, UiPath
  • Windows and Linux environments

Key Responsibilities

  • Contribute to the delivery of a DevOps and automation roadmap, with a focus on ephemeral environments and advanced automation approaches.
  • Collaborate with delivery and engineering teams to understand upcoming work and identify DevOps and automation requirements.
  • Plan, prioritise, and deliver DevOps-related project tasks, providing regular progress updates.
  • Design, build, and maintain CI/CD pipelines, deployment processes, and environment management solutions.
  • Develop and maintain documentation, runbooks, and knowledge articles for deployments and troubleshooting.
  • Manage configuration, release, and environment processes across multi-tier systems.
  • Support application, service, and database deployments across Windows and Linux-based platforms.
  • Drive high levels of end-to-end automation using reusable, auditable components, with appropriate human oversight.
  • Build self-service automation capabilities to enable teams to operate and manage their own processes.
  • Enhance observability and monitoring to provide insight into system health, deployments, and performance.
  • Embed security and compliance into pipelines and automation, ensuring traceability and auditability.
  • Support continuous improvement by exploring new tools, platforms, and automation techniques.
  • Coordinate environment refreshes, planned outages, and release activities with wider delivery teams.
  • Communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Provide support and guidance to other team members on DevOps-related activities.
  • Engage with third-party vendors where required.
