Lead Quality Engineer

Lead Quality Engineer London (Hybrid - 3 days onsite) Permanent | Up to £90,000 and generous bonus scheme

A major transformation programme is underway, and we're looking for a Lead Quality Engineer to provide strategic quality leadership across a large, multi-team delivery landscape.

The Role

This position plays a central role in shaping and governing quality across a complex programme focused on replacing a legacy platform with a modern, scalable solution. You'll work at programme level to define the SIT strategy, align quality practices across multiple Agile Product Teams, and ensure the successful delivery of an integrated end-to-end solution.

As delivery stabilises, you'll transition into a wider governance role - overseeing quality standards, supporting multiple Product Teams, and driving continuous improvement across the portfolio.

This is a strategic, coordination-focused role requiring strong leadership, stakeholder engagement, and the ability to influence cross-functional teams.

What You'll Do
  • Contribute to and help set the overall test strategy for a large transformation programme.

  • Oversee functional, non-functional, integration, and data migration approaches across teams.

  • Provide direction and alignment for UAT planning at a programme level.

  • Drive risk-based planning and promote intelligent use of automation across delivery teams.

  • Ensure traceability, quality governance, and programme-wide reporting.

  • Lead quality-focused discussions including defect management and release readiness.

  • Mentor embedded testers and reinforce consistent QE practices and tooling across teams.

  • Support the development and tracking of key quality metrics and standards.

  • Support teams in scaling low-code automation using Katalon Studio within the agreed test strategy.

  • Provide oversight and guidance for Pega scenario testing to ensure consistency and quality across relevant workstreams.

What You Bring
  • Proven experience as a Senior Test Lead or QE Lead in large, multi-team change programmes.

  • Strong background in Agile delivery with embedded test capability.

  • Ability to define and govern test strategy across diverse domains and workstreams.

  • Experience with automation frameworks and CI/CD environments.

  • Exposure to data migration testing within complex system replacement programmes.

  • Excellent communication, stakeholder leadership, and governance capability.

  • Experience working in regulated or complex environments.
