Senior Linux Engineer

Sanderson are looking for a Senior Linux Engineer to join a growing team on a permanent basis supporting secure, high-performance Linux environments across multiple long-term projects. This is a hands-on, fully onsite role based in Stevenage, with occasional travel across Greater London and the Southeast (expensed). If you enjoy working closely with customers, solving interesting technical challenges, and being part of a collaborative, supportive team, this could be a great next step.

You'll be joining a group of Linux specialists who work across several contracts, sharing expertise and shaping best practices. This is a strong opportunity to deepen your skills in HPC, clustered environments, automation, and modern Linux tooling - all while contributing to important, evolving projects.

Who We're Looking For* Someone confident working with customers and stakeholders in onsite environments* A self-motivated engineer who wants to grow their skills and take on new challenges* A mindset geared towards automation and scripting (Bash, Python, Ansible)* Experience in IT support, infrastructure, or networking is a bonus

Your Role* Provide Linux support across several contracts and environments* Share expertise within the team and help shape processes and best practices* Handle escalations and contribute to smooth operational delivery* Build strong relationships with customers and internal teams* Occasionally support solution design or pre-sales activities

Required Skills & Experience (or a willingness to learn)* Red Hat Certified Engineer or equivalent hands-on experience* Broad Linux administration across multiple distributions* Linux within integrated Windows / Active Directory environments* Automation tools such as Ansible* Scripting in Bash, Python, and ideally one other language* Clustered environments and orchestration tools* Parallel file systems (such as Lustre)* HPC tools (such as Bright)* Networking knowledge: Mellanox InfiniBand or Ethernet* Experience with storage platforms: DDN, NetApp, IBM, Dell EMC* Familiarity with batch scheduling systems such as PBS Pro, Slurm, SGE/UGE, Microsoft Scheduler
