Salary: £50,000 - £60,000 + 10% Company Bonus + Single Medical Policy Location: Basingstoke, Bracknell, Warrington

Role Summary
We are looking for a WAN Architect to work on delivery opportunities taking place within the secure Defence and National Security sector. Your role will involve providing technical leadership within a project, understanding the business and technical requirements and you will be responsible for the producing the relevant design collateral, including passing any governance reviews, and ensure effective technical delivery of the solution.
This Role Will Involve:
WAN Design and Architecture
- Design enterprise-grade WAN architectures (including SD-WAN, MPLS, hybrid WAN) tailored to client requirements.
- Define network topology, routing protocols, bandwidth sizing, and failover strategies.
- Ensure scalability, security, and high availability.
Client Engagement and Solution Development
- Engage with customers to understand business and technical requirements.
- Translate customer needs into technical WAN solutions and network blueprints.
- Collaborate with presales teams and contribute to proposals, RFPs/RFIs.
Technology Strategy and Standards
- Set standards for WAN technologies, protocols, and best practices.
- Evaluate new WAN technologies (e.g., SD-WAN vendors like Cisco Viptela, Fortinet, Silver Peak, etc.).
- Contribute to Fujitsu's broader network strategy and innovation roadmap.
Implementation Oversight
- Support or lead the deployment of WAN solutions.
- Work with implementation teams, vendors, and project managers to ensure timely and successful delivery.
Security and Compliance
- Ensure WAN designs are secure and comply with regulatory or client-specific requirements.
- Work with security architects to integrate secure connectivity (VPN, IPsec, ZTNA).
Performance Tuning and Optimization
- Monitor WAN performance and suggest improvements.
- Use tools for traffic analysis, QoS configuration, and capacity planning.
Skills & Experiences
- Demonstrable experience of understanding the customers business and technical requirements and issues and producing solid network solutions.
- Demonstrable design experience in proposing and utilising technologies from multiple global network vendors (e.g. Cisco and Juniper), including production of quality technical documentation for delivery and solution support.
- Strong technical networking knowledge with industry recognised network certifications such as Cisco CCNA/CCNP, Juniper JNCIA-Design or JNCIA-Junos.
- Able to create non-standard solutions that may incorporate any of the following: LAN, WAN, WiFi, VPN, Voice, Video, Cyber and Security technologies. Liaise with others in the Program team where solutions cross responsibility borders.
- Solid understanding of project end to end life cycle, through initial requirements gathering to Operational Acceptance into Service, including good commercial and financial awareness in terms of understanding risks and dependencies associated with any delivery project.
- Able to support project and programme management with any reporting, and to ensure timely project delivery that meets the customers expectation.
- Excellent communications skills with multiple stakeholders, able to take ownership and responsibility and make quick decisions. Ability to communicate calmly and concisely with the Customer.
- Ideally with previous experience working within the UK defence sector.
This role requires you to be willing and eligible to undergo a high level of security clearance
