Digital Project Manager

Job summary

We are looking for a motivated and experienced Digital Project Manager to lead the delivery of a varied portfolio of digital projects that directly support the strategic priorities of Sandwell & West Birmingham NHS Trust. This is a high-impact role where your work will help shape and improve digital services that support frontline care and patient outcomes.

You will work closely with Directors, senior managers, clinicians and a wide range of stakeholders to take projects from initial concept through to successful delivery. The role requires strong leadership, clear communication and the ability to balance innovation and change with robust governance, risk management and financial control.

The IT Department plays a critical role in delivering high-quality technology services across the Trust, while also providing revenue-generating IT services to other NHS organisations and private sector healthcare partners. This creates a dynamic and forward-thinking environment where digital transformation is genuinely valued and supported.

If you enjoy managing projects, influencing change, and seeing your work deliver real benefits, this role offers the chance to do exactly that.

Main duties of the job

  • Manage and deliver multiple projects within the Trust's 3 year IT plan
  • Establish, oversee and support delivery across Digital Portfolio workstreams.
  • Identify, develop and implement digital transformation projects.
  • Drive innovation by proposing improvements and optimising system configuration.
  • Produce clear, audience-appropriate project documentation and reports.
  • Build and maintain strong internal and external stakeholder relationships.
  • Act as an ambassador for IT services and digital delivery across the Trust.

About us

Sandwell and West Birmingham NHS Trust (SWB) serves Birmingham and the Black Country - one of the country's most culturally diverse areas. It's a friendly and welcoming place - a place where you can belong, and a place where you can grow.

We care for our patients, we care about our population, and we care about our people.

Our values - Ambition, Respect and Compassion - are at the heart of who we are. They guide us every step of the way; how we work with each other, and how we look after our patients and their families; how we respect and value the rich diversity of our team and our community.

Our Trust has always aspired to be more than a hospital, more than a healthcare provider. Our purpose is to "Improve the Life Chances and Health Outcomes of our Population." It is what inspires, drives, and unites us every day. It's what makes us unique.

We want working at SWB to feel like more than just a job. We want our Trust to be a place where you can feel you belong. A place where you feel happy, safe, and rewarded. A place where you can develop your career in whatever way you choose. When we say we're 'with you all the way' we want you to know that we mean it.
