Middle / Back Office Business Analyst - Contract

Rate: £750-850pd umbrella - flex for the right experience

My client is seeking an experienced Business Analyst with strong asset management middle and back-office expertise to support a business change integration initiative. The successful candidate will act as a key liaison between business stakeholders and technology teams, ensuring operational requirements are clearly defined and delivered effectively.

Key Responsibilities:

Business Analysis & Stakeholder Engagement

  • Partner with middle and back office stakeholders (Operations, Fund Accounting, Risk, Compliance, Treasury, Data, IT)
  • Elicit, analyze, and document business requirements for system enhancements, regulatory initiatives, and operational improvements
  • Translate business needs into clear functional and non-functional requirements
  • Facilitate workshops, interviews, and walkthroughs with business and technical teams

Middle & Back Office Domain Focus

  • Support processes including:
  • Trade lifecycle (post-trade processing, settlements, confirmations)
  • Fund accounting and NAV calculation
  • Corporate actions and income processing
  • Reconciliations (cash, positions, securities)
  • Pricing and valuation
  • Performance and reporting
  • Risk and regulatory reporting
  • Understand data flows across front, middle, and back office systems

Change Delivery & Systems

  • Support system implementations, upgrades, and vendor platforms (e.g., OMS, PMS, accounting platforms, data warehouses)
  • Work closely with developers, QA, and vendors to ensure accurate delivery
  • Assist with test strategy, test case creation, UAT coordination, and defect management
  • Support data migration and integration initiatives

Process Improvement & Documentation

  • Identify gaps, inefficiencies, and control issues in existing processes
  • Propose and document improved workflows and operating models
  • Maintain high-quality documentation (BRDs, FRDs, user stories, process flows)
  • Support operational readiness, training, and post-implementation reviews

Required Skills & Experience:

  • Proven experience as a Business Analyst within asset management
  • Strong knowledge of middle and back office operations
  • Solid understanding of the investment management lifecycle
  • Experience working with both business users and technical teams
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
  • Experience with Agile and/or Waterfall delivery methodologies
  • Proficiency in requirements documentation and process modeling tools
