GIS Architect - Migration Specialist (GE Smallworld to Esri)
Role Overview
You will lead the architectural design and execution of GIS platform transitions, primarily focused on migrations between GE Smallworld and Esri ArcGIS platforms. You'll work closely with enterprise architects, product owners, and delivery teams to ensure the successful modernization of Legacy GIS environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Define end-to-end architecture for GIS system transitions, with deep knowledge of GE Smallworld and Esri platforms.
- Design data migration strategies, toolchains, and transformation pipelines for large-scale spatial data.
- Establish integration patterns for GIS with OSS/BSS systems, enterprise data lakes, and external APIs.
- Ensure alignment with enterprise architecture, security, and data governance policies.
- Evaluate and recommend commercial/open-source GIS migration tools.
- Support vendor selection, PoC evaluations, and performance benchmarking.
- Collaborate with delivery and testing teams to ensure smooth deployment and validation.
Skills & Qualifications
- Proven expertise in both GE Smallworld (Magik, GSS, GSSServer, PNI) and Esri ArcGIS (Pro, Enterprise, Portal).
- Strong grounding in spatial data models, FME, PostGIS, Oracle Spatial, or similar.
- Knowledge of telco networks (especially fixed-line or fiber) and related inventory models.
- Familiarity with agile project methodologies and DevOps practices.
- Experience designing APIs or Middleware integration for GIS.
- TOGAF or similar architecture certification is a plus.
