Interim Finance Systems Transformation Consultant

Day Rate | Interim | Until the end of July

A leading and well-respected organisation is seeking an experienced Finance Systems Transformation Consultant to lead a critical, time-sensitive programme to transform finance systems and related enterprise processes.

This is a hands-on interim role, ideal for someone who has personally delivered end-to-end finance system transformations and can operate confidently at senior-stakeholder level while driving delivery at pace.

The Role

You will take ownership of the end-to-end finance systems transformation, partnering closely with finance leadership and wider business areas to accelerate delivery and ensure Finance requirements are protected throughout.

Key priorities include:

  • Aware to Admit - leading the discovery phase of end-to-end finance processes

  • Finance System Continuous Improvement Programme - accelerating and refining the existing roadmap to deliver tangible improvements quickly

You will be expected to operate with a high degree of autonomy, shaping the approach, leading delivery, and providing clear reporting to senior stakeholders.

Team & Ways of Working

  • Likely line or matrix leadership of up to two business analysts

  • Close collaboration with cross-functional internal subject matter experts

  • Direct engagement with the CFO and senior leadership

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and project manage the finance systems transformation from discovery through to implementation

  • Design and facilitate cross-functional workshops, ensuring finance priorities drive outcomes

  • Map current-state finance processes, identify gaps, and design efficient future-state processes

  • Act as a strong advocate for Finance, challenging decisions that introduce inefficiency or compromise outcomes

  • Prepare and deliver clear, concise progress and risk updates to senior leadership

  • Identify, assess, and mitigate risks associated with finance transformation activity

  • Work effectively across organisational boundaries to ensure successful system integration

Essential Experience & Skills

  • Proven leadership of finance systems transformation projects within complex organisations

  • Demonstrable hands-on delivery of at least one full end-to-end finance system implementation

  • Strong workshop facilitation skills with cross-functional stakeholders

  • Excellent stakeholder management and senior-level reporting capability

  • Deep experience in finance process analysis and redesign

  • Strong influencing and negotiation skills, with the confidence to challenge constructively

  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills

  • High level of technical understanding of finance systems and their integration with wider business systems

  • Comfortable working at pace, adapting to ambiguity, and changing direction when required
