Lead Edge Network Engineer
We are seeking a battle-tested Lead Edge Network Engineer to design, build, and scale our next-generation edge networking infrastructure from the ground up. This is not a "maintenance" job. You will be the foundational engineer responsible for taking our early-stage architecture and turning it into a robust, high-performance, and globally distributed edge network.
Core Responsibilities
- Greenfield Architecture: Design, deploy, and own our end-to-end edge networking infrastructure, optimizing for ultra-low latency, high availability, and massive scalability.
- Vendor & Transit Selection: Evaluate, negotiate with, and select upstream ISPs, transit providers, CDN partners, and bare-metal/colocation facilities to build our global footprint.
- Automation-First Operations: Build CI/CD pipelines for network deployments, treating infrastructure as code (IaC) to automate configurations, provisioning, and zero-touch deployments.
- Traffic Engineering: Implement advanced routing policies, Anycast architectures, and load balancing strategies to optimize global traffic steering.
- Observability & Monitoring: Set up comprehensive telemetry, logging, and alerting systems from scratch to ensure deep visibility into network performance and edge health.
- Security & Resilience: Architect robust DDoS mitigation strategies, edge Firewalls, and secure access service edge (SASE) frameworks to protect data at the perimeter.
What We Are Looking For (Requirements)
- Founding Experience: Proven track record of building, scaling, or heavily re-architecting edge networks or Content Delivery Networks (CDNs) from an early stage or scratch.
- Routing Expertise: Deep, hands-on knowledge of BGP (including complex traffic engineering and Anycast), OSPF, MPLS, and IPv6.
- Infrastructure as Code (IaC): Strong proficiency with automation tools such as Terraform, Ansible, or SaltStack, and Scripting languages (Python or Go).
- Linux Networking: Deep understanding of the Linux networking stack (eEX: eBPF, XDP, iptables, routing tables) and Kernel tuning for high-throughput networking.
- Edge Frameworks: Familiarity with modern edge computing concepts, including cloud-native edge architectures (Kubernetes at the edge, WebAssembly/Wasm, or containerised edge microservices).
- Hardware & Cloud Hybridization: Experience bridging physical edge deployments (PoPs, bare metal) with public cloud environments (AWS, GCP, or Azure).
