BIM Manager
A leading international architecture and design practice is looking for an experienced Regional Design Technology Manager to join its London studio.
This is a senior design technology position working across multiple disciplines and project teams, helping shape how digital design, BIM and emerging technologies are used across the business. The role combines BIM strategy, project support, computational design, automation, technology implementation and training, working closely with both Design Technology and IT teams. The successful candidate will have significant experience within the AEC industry and advanced knowledge of Revit, Dynamo, Rhino and Grasshopper, alongside a strong understanding of BIM workflows, cloud-based delivery platforms and emerging technologies including AI, AR/VR and automation.
Job Description
- Support the development and implementation of the practice's global BIM and design technology strategy
- Develop, implement and maintain BIM standards, procedures and workflows across project teams
- Work directly with design teams to improve project delivery through effective use of BIM and digital design technologies
- Guide project setup and consultant onboarding, ensuring models and project data are structured effectively from the outset
- Support teams with complex BIM, computational design and digital workflows
- Develop project-specific code, applications and automation tools where required
- Create and manage Revit and Dynamo content, including families, schedules, data and definitions
- Research, develop and implement workflows across Revit, Dynamo, Rhino and Grasshopper
- Develop plugins, customisations and automation tools to improve efficiency and project delivery
- Manage and optimise cloud-based project delivery platforms and data repositories
- Coordinate the testing, packaging and deployment of design technology software and plugins
- Support the adoption of emerging technologies including AI, AR/VR, environmental analysis and data-driven design
- Develop and document BIM standards, libraries, templates and best-practice guidance
- Produce and deliver training across Revit, Dynamo, Rhino, Grasshopper and related technologies
- Mentor project teams and help improve digital capability across the wider practice
- Work with internal and external developers to create tools that automate and accelerate design workflows
- Research emerging technologies and identify opportunities to enhance design and project delivery
- Support change management relating to new software, workflows and technology implementation
Key Skills
- 10+ years' progressive experience within BIM, computational design and/or design technology
- Advanced knowledge of Revit, Rhino and Grasshopper
- Strong experience with Dynamo
- Good AutoCAD capability
- Strong understanding of BIM standards, workflows and model management
- Experience with computational design, automation, scripting and workflow customisation
- Knowledge of cloud-based project delivery platforms and data repositories
- Experience developing or implementing plugins, automation and acceleration tools
- Ability to troubleshoot complex project and software workflows
- Strong understanding of how digital tools can support architectural design and project delivery
- Experience developing standards, templates, libraries and training materials
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain complex technical information to non-technical users
- Strong leadership and mentoring capability
- Able to work collaboratively with designers, project leaders, BIM specialists, IT teams and developers
- Comfortable managing multiple priorities across different projects and teams
Qualifications
A Bachelor's degree in Architecture, Engineering, Computational Design or a related discipline is preferred. Candidates should ideally have significant progressive experience with Rhino, Grasshopper, Revit, BIM/3D modelling and visualisation technologies, alongside experience with automation, analysis and customisation tools.
