About the Role
Location: Remote
Compensation: Paid per project
Employment Type: Independent contractor / freelance
We are looking for freelance technical writers who can clearly explain how software and AI products work and translate complex technical concepts into accessible content for startup teams. The work can range from writing product explainers and feature deep dives to producing API guides, comparisons of tools or workflows, structured documentation, and other technical content that helps founders and operators understand and use technology effectively.
Ideal candidates are comfortable researching unfamiliar tools, reading product documentation, validating details with engineering logic, and turning that information into polished, well structured writing.
Requirements
- Strong technical understanding of software, SaaS, AI or data products
- Ability to learn unfamiliar tools quickly and explain them clearly
- Excellent written communication in English
- Ability to synthesize information from docs, demos and technical sources.
- Attention to detail and consistency
- Previous experience in technical writing, developer content, product documentation or engineering-adjacent roles
Nice to Have
- Backgrounds in engineering, computer science, product teams or devrel
- Prior experience writing documentation, tutorials or technical blogs
- Familiarity with AI tools such as ChatGPT, Perplexity or Claude
- Interest in SaaS, AI tools and emerging technology
