We are looking for an AI Engineer for our well-known client.

• Location: London, UK
• Type of Work: Hybrid (2-3 days from the office in a week)

We are looking for an AI Engineer with experience building AI/ML solutions in fintech or financial services environments. The role will focus on designing and implementing agentic AI workflows and LLM-driven solutions that enhance banking and payments-related processes. This is a techno-functional role where the candidate will help design AI strategies, build prototypes and develop production-ready AI solutions that integrate with banking platforms and operational workflows.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and develop AI-driven solutions for banking and payments workflows, including automation, decision support and intelligent process orchestration.
• Build and implement LLM-powered solutions, including conversational interfaces, document intelligence and workflow automation.
• Develop agentic AI workflows capable of executing multi-step banking or operational tasks. ·
• Work with structured and unstructured financial data to build machine learning models and AI pipelines.
• Integrate AI capabilities into existing systems using APIs and modern software architecture.
• Collaborate with domain teams (payments, banking operations, risk, etc.) to translate business use cases into AI solutions.
• Build production-grade AI systems, including model deployment, monitoring and lifecycle management.
• Support experimentation, rapid prototyping and scaling of AI solutions across the organization.

Requirements:

7+ years of total experience is technology across banking of which at least the last 2+ years have to be in core AI engineering for banking / payments workflows.

AI / Machine Learning

• Strong programming expertise in Python.
• Experience building and deploying machine learning or deep learning models. · Hands-on experience with LLMs and modern AI frameworks.
• Experience with transformer architectures and sequence modelling.
• Familiarity with LangChain, RAG (Retrieval Augmented Generation) and LLM application frameworks. · Experience using PyTorch, TensorFlow or similar ML frameworks.
• Ability to design and implement AI workflows and AI-powered automation systems.

AI Engineering / Platform

• Experience integrating AI solutions with enterprise systems and APIs.
• Familiarity with data pipelines, model deployment and production environments.
• Experience working with structured and unstructured datasets.

Domain Context

• Exposure to banking, fintech or financial services environments preferred. · Ability to understand financial workflows and operational processes.

Preferred Experience

• Experience working in fintech startups or financial technology teams.
• Experience building AI-powered automation or intelligent workflow systems.
• Exposure to financial operations or banking platforms is required.

Good to have strong Payments domain exposure (SWIFT, ISO 20022, Cards, Wire, ACH, Cross-border, Treasury flows) is good to have but not mandatory.
