Graduate Recruitment Consultant - Technology & Trading
London | basic + uncapped commission | Full-time, in office
The market you'd be working in
Scope AT places engineers, quants and technologists into banks, trading firms and funds. Our contractors work on trading systems, risk platforms and market data infrastructure at financial services firms.
It's a technical market. You'll be talking to people who build low-latency trading systems.
What the first year looks like
Months 1-3: you learn the market. Which firms do what, what the roles are, why a Java engineer isn't a React developer, what a contractor rate is made of. You'll shadow calls and start building a candidate network in one vertical.
Months 4-6: you're running your own conversations. Sourcing, qualifying, submitting. Your first placement usually lands somewhere in here.
Months 7-12: you're managing your own desk with your own clients and candidates, and your commission starts to matter more than your basic.
Remuneration
Basic + Commission - uncapped and paid quarterly.
What we're looking for
- Curiosity about how things work. The best people here got good because they wanted to understand the market, not because they were natural salespeople.
- Resilience. You'll be told no far more than yes, particularly early. That has to bounce off you.
- Precision. Details matter - a rate, a contract clause, a candidate's actual skill set. Getting them wrong costs money and credibility.
- You can hold a conversation with a stranger and make it worth their time.
A degree helps but the subject doesn't matter. Prior sales experience isn't required and isn't a strong predictor either way.
What you get
- Uncapped commission, no threshold
- Quarterly and annual performance bonuses
- Training from directors who've been doing this for 10+ years, not a script and a phone
- A specialist market with genuine depth - you'll build expertise, not just a call list
- On-site parking in Richmond
- Referral scheme
