Quantitative Research Developer

My global banking client, based in London, is looking for an Quantitative Research Developer to join the team in London.

C#, JavaScript, Cloud (GCP) are all essential.

This is an initial 6 month contract, paying £785pd Umbrella rate. Hybrid working, 2 days a week in the London office.

Key skills:

  • Degree-qualified in Computer Science, Engineering, Physics, Mathematics, or a related quantitative discipline (BS/MS/PhD preferred).
  • Strong technical expertise in C#, with experience using Python, R or MATLAB, relational databases (PostgreSQL preferred), and software development best practices including source control and Agile.
  • Knowledge of DevOps and cloud technologies, including GitHub, Jenkins, Docker, Kubernetes, Terraform, Ansible, with GCP experience advantageous.
  • Understanding of financial markets, particularly equities, with knowledge of portfolio construction, investment strategy analysis, and data visualisation considered highly desirable.
  • Excellent analytical, programming and communication skills, with experience of Windows/Linux Scripting (PowerShell, Bash or DOS) and exposure to web technologies (HTML, CSS, JavaScript, ASP.NET Core MVC) being beneficial.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the development of a cutting-edge equity research platform, designing and enhancing research frameworks, analytics tools, and software that support investment strategies and decision-making.
  • Partner with investment, technology, and global stakeholders to gather requirements, design solutions, and deliver high-quality, thoroughly tested applications that meet business needs.
  • Drive quantitative research and innovation by analysing data, developing models, validating research outputs, and contributing to the creation and enhancement of equity investment strategies.
  • Champion software quality and governance, applying full-stack development expertise, Agile methodologies, best development practices, and robust testing to ensure reliable, scalable solutions.
  • Influence across the business by working closely with senior investment leaders, confidently communicating technical solutions, balancing business and technology priorities, and delivering results in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
