Senior Software Engineer / Cloud DevOps Engineer (AWS)
My client, a global bank based in London, is looking for a contract Senior Software Engineer / Cloud DevOps Engineer (AWS). The Senior Software Engineer will be supporting development of services on Public Cloud platforms. Design and implement resilient frontend clients, backend services, infrastructure automation, and cloud-native solutions.
Strong software development skills combined with DevOps proficiency, particularly across AWS.
6 month contract (will extend), paying up to £890 per day. Hybrid working, 2 days a week in their Sheffield office.
Key skills: • Strong in Golang & Python • Skilled in RESTful APIs, microservices, Kubernetes, serverless functions, and database technologies (Relational & NoSQL). • Cloud & DevOps Expertise: Extensive AWS experience (GCP desirable), Infrastructure as Code (Terraform), CI/CD (Jenkins, GitLab), containerisation, monitoring, and cost optimisation. • Security & Compliance: Solid understanding of cryptography, cloud security principles, audit, and compliance, particularly in regulated industries like finance. • Additional Skills: Linux administration, integration services (messaging/streams), automation scripting, non-functional testing, and Agile methodology. • Liquibase or similar tools for database change management and version control. • Desirable: AWS certifications and prior experience in financial services or regulated sectors.
Responsibilities: • Backend & Frontend Development: Design, build, and maintain secure, high-performance REST API services and frontend clients using Python, Golang, Docker, and cloud-native technologies. • Database & Compliance: Manage database schema changes via Liquibase, ensuring adherence to audit and regulatory standards. • CI/CD & DevOps Integration: Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines with strong traceability and collaboration across DevOps and Security teams. • Cloud Infrastructure Management: Monitor, optimize, and secure AWS infrastructure for resilience and cost efficiency. • Operational Support & Incident Resolution: Provide production support, conduct root cause analysis, and resolve performance issues.
