Principal Full Stack Engineer (Python) – AI Insurtech

Our client is a fast-growing AI Insurtech startup is looking for a Principal Full Stack Engineer to help build and scale the next generation of insurance technology platforms. Backed by recent Series A funding, the business is entering a major growth phase with a strong engineering and product focus.

This is a highly hands-on role for someone who enjoys owning products end-to-end — from early ideas and technical design through to production delivery and scaling. While the role is backend-leaning in Python, they’re looking for an engineer who can comfortably contribute across the stack and think deeply about product experience, usability, and engineering trade-offs.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Building and scaling core platform features in production
• Owning full lifecycle development across backend, frontend, and infrastructure
• Collaborating closely with product and design on feature direction and UX
• Making pragmatic architectural and technical decisions
• Improving system performance, reliability, and scalability
• Working in a fast-moving environment with high ownership and autonomy

What They’re Looking For

• 5-8 years of software engineering experience with strong Python expertise
• Solid full stack development background (React or Angular exposure preferred)
• Experience building real-world products from concept to production
• Strong understanding of scalable system design and engineering best practices
• Comfortable operating in ambiguity and taking ownership of outcomes

Nice to Have

• Startup or scale-up experience
• Exposure to regulated industries such as insurance or fintech
• Experience working in product-led engineering teams
