The Role
We're looking for an experienced Lead Software Developer to take technical ownership of full-stack solutions across multiple government programmes. You'll guide teams through the entire software development lifecycle - from architecture and design through to implementation and delivery - ensuring best practices, scalability, and security throughout.
This is a hands-on leadership position where you'll balance technical delivery with mentoring and architectural direction.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the design, development, and deployment of full-stack applications using Java, React, JavaScript, and AWS.
- Provide technical leadership and direction to development teams.
- Collaborate with architects, product owners, and stakeholders to deliver secure and scalable solutions.
- Champion best practices in agile delivery, CI/CD, testing, and cloud-native development.
- Support and mentor junior and mid-level developers.
- Ensure all solutions meet government and security compliance standards.
Skills & Experience
Essential:
- Active SC Clearance.
- Strong background in Java and React development.
- Proficiency with AWS and modern JavaScript frameworks.
- Experience leading technical teams or projects in an agile environment.
- Excellent problem-solving, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills.
Desirable:
- Previous experience working in a consultancy or client-facing environment.
- Exposure to UK Government or public sector projects.
- Knowledge of microservices architecture, DevOps practices, and automation tooling.
