The Role We are looking for an experienced Security Specialist to join a growing security team within a major organisation. This is a fantastic opportunity to play a key role in ensuring compliance with the HMG Security Policy Framework (SPF), GovS007, and the highest standards of security assurance across physical, personnel, and information security.You will support the Security Lead in delivering security operations, assurance, and administration, helping to protect the organisation, its people, and its clients. This is a hands-on role with direct impact on operational growth and security posture.
Key Responsibilities* Ensure compliance with the organisation's security policy framework and HMG standards (SPF, GovS007).* Coordinate and execute security operations across physical, material, document, personnel, and information security.* Implement and monitor policies, processes, and governance for security; prepare clear reports with outcomes and recommendations.* Support HMG accreditations, completing related tasking issued by the Security Lead.* Provide security and risk management advice to practitioners working across Government & Public Services.* Act as custodian for security-related material and monitor physical and information asset security controls.* Promote awareness of HMG and organisational security requirements through training, education, and induction programmes.* Support internal teams in applying security policies and procedures correctly.* Provide advice on handling and protecting confidential information.* Contribute to client and supplier security audits and assurance activities.* Review and negotiate information security aspects of contracts, working closely with legal teams.* Act as a key point of contact for confidentiality, security, and data risk matters.* Collaborate with colleagues to provide SME input for engagement teams, contract reviews, and client assurance.* Participate in an out-of-hours escalation rota for security incidents.
Key Skills & ExperienceEssential:* Strong working knowledge of HMG SPF, GovS007, and the Official Secrets Act.* Experience handling security material, ideally including cryptographic material.* Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.* Proficient in Microsoft 365 products and services.* Current DV clearance.Desirable:* Experience in government or other regulated industries in a security assurance/supervision role.* DISA training (e.g. Role of the Security Controller, vetting).* Security-related qualification (e.g. Level 3 Security Management, CISM, or equivalent).* Experience reviewing and negotiating contract security provisions.
