Senior Platform Engineer

Opportunity available within a leading Defence Sector SME for a Senior/Lead Platform Engineer with SC or DV Clearance in Herefordshire.

• Herefordshire location - 4/5 days on site
• Up to £105k DoE
• Active SC or MoD DV required
• Expertise required in Linux, Kubernetes, Docker, Python

As a Senior/Lead Platform Engineer, you'll support our client's data team in developing secure Linux-based platforms. We're seeking someone with experience in security-cleared environments and advising on the design and delivery of wider systems. Our client is in an exciting period of growth, and they're seeking a Lead Engineer to build a team around.

Responsibilities:

• Develop a Kubernetes stack with secure-by-design tools
• Update security, software, dependencies and libraries
• Set up and migrate Spark clusters across platforms
• Manage user accounts and IdP permissions
• Maintain the Delta Lake
• Ensure secure-by-design assurance throughout the platform

Experience Required:

• Strong Linux engineering background
• Expertise in Kubernetes and Docker
• Proficient in scripting (Python, Bash)
• Experience with air-gapped networks and cloud platforms
• Familiar with HPC environments
• Knowledge of security, encryption and compliance standards
