Who is the client? Our client is a well-established IT Support, Cloud and Security services provider with over 30 years of industry experience. They support a broad range of SME customers and pride themselves on delivering reliable, responsive IT services within a friendly and professional environment. With continued growth, they are looking to expand their field engineering team to support increasing demand across customer sites.
What will you be doing? This is a predominantly field-based role focused on resolving service calls and delivering hands-on technical support directly at customer premises. You'll be responsible for diagnosing hardware and software issues, carrying out installations, and supporting infrastructure upgrades.
Key responsibilities include:* Attending customer sites to resolve hardware, software, and network-related issues.* Acting as an escalation point for complex technical faults where required.* Replacing and installing network switches in live environments.* Performing server upgrades including RAM installations and disk space expansions.* Building and configuring new machines from scratch, including OS installation and domain configuration.* Replacing and upgrading hard drives, including SSD installations and data migration.* Troubleshooting Microsoft Windows desktop and server operating systems.* Liaising with third-party suppliers and vendors to resolve outstanding issues.* Assisting with basic IT projects and infrastructure installations.* Maintaining clear documentation and updating service tickets accurately.
What will you need?* At least 1 year's experience in a similar Field Engineer or IT Support role.* Strong knowledge of Microsoft Windows Operating Systems (Desktop and Server).* Proven troubleshooting and diagnostic skills.* Experience replacing network switches and supporting basic networking infrastructure.* Hands-on experience performing server hardware upgrades (RAM and storage).* Experience building PCs and configuring new machines.* Experience replacing hard drives, particularly SSD upgrades and migrations.* Strong communication skills with the ability to explain technical issues clearly to non-technical users.* Good time management skills and the ability to prioritise multiple site visits.* Full UK driving licence.
What would be desirable?* Previous experience working within an MSP environment.* Exposure to cloud platforms such as Microsoft 365 or Azure.* Experience supporting backup solutions and disaster recovery tools.* Willingness to participate in a 24/7 on-call rota (paid).
