Who We're Seeking
We're looking for a Principal Back End Developer who combines deep technical expertise with strategic thinking. You'll set direction for backend architecture, champion engineering excellence, and mentor developers across the function.
You'll be comfortable influencing technical decisions, aligning engineering strategy with business goals, and remaining hands-on where it matters most.
What You'll Be Doing
- Setting technical direction for backend architecture and best practice
- Designing scalable, maintainable, high-performance systems
- Building and enhancing RESTful and GraphQL APIs
- Leading on TDD and high-quality engineering standards
- Collaborating with architects and senior engineers across disciplines
- Mentoring developers and supporting career growth
- Investigating and resolving complex production issues
- Driving improvements in tooling, DevOps practices, and delivery processes
What You'll Bring
- Strong commercial experience with C# and .NET
- Expertise in SQL Server and backend system design
- Extensive experience with RESTful and GraphQL APIs
- Strong understanding of SOLID principles and OOP
- Proven experience with Test-Driven Development
- Advanced Git knowledge including branching strategies
- Experience working within Agile delivery environments
- Ability to communicate technical strategy to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
Desirable experience includes Entity Framework or other ORMs, Azure cloud services, CI/CD pipelines, design patterns, observability practices, and secure coding standards.
