Due to continued growth, we are working with an established and successful e-commerce organisation based near Chorley. They are investing heavily in their technology function and are now looking for an experienced Software Development Manager to take ownership of front-end delivery across their customer-facing platforms.

This is a hands-on leadership position where you will lead a team of five Front-End Engineers while remaining closely involved in technical decision-making. You will work collaboratively with Product, UX, and wider engineering teams to deliver scalable, high-performance e-commerce solutions, ensuring best practice across code quality, performance, and security.

You will also play a key role in shaping engineering processes, improving ways of working, and helping to evolve the front-end architecture as the platform continues to scale.

• Proven experience as a Software Development Manager, Engineering Manager, Team Lead, or similar

• Strong e-commerce experience, ideally within online retail or high-traffic transactional platforms

• Solid background in JavaScript and Node.js development

• Experience leading and mentoring front-end engineering teams

• Comfortable balancing people management with hands-on technical leadership

• Exposure to modern front-end frameworks such as React (or similar)

• Experience with Terraform or Infrastructure as Code is highly desirable
