Creator Business Development Manager

Could you be the person a creator trusts with one of the biggest decisions of their career?

Have you built your own pipeline from nothing and loved every minute of the hunt?

If you're nodding along to both, keep reading, because this one doesn't come along often.

I'm working with a fast-growing, well-funded tech start-up that sits right at the heart of the creator economy. They invest in content creators and help them turn successful channels into proper, lasting businesses, backing them with funding and a suite of growth products. They're already partnered with some seriously well-known names, and their ambition is to work with thousands of creators around the world.

This is their first dedicated creator sales hire. That means you won't be slotting into someone else's process. You'll help write the playbook, shape how the sales function works, and have real scope to grow with it as the business scales.

What you'll actually be doing

You'll own origination from start to finish. That means finding the right creators, earning their trust, getting under the skin of their business and ambitions, and guiding them into a partnership that genuinely helps them grow. Marketing will support with leads, but you'll be self-sourcing through outbound, events and building your own name in the creator world.

You'll run proper discovery and translate what you learn for the underwriting team. The analysts pull together the numbers, but you'll own the growth story. You'll create the pitch materials and walk creators through where their business could go, with real conviction. Then you'll see deals through onboarding so every partnership starts well, not just signs.

It's consultative and relationship-led. No scripts, no pushy closes. One afternoon you might be chatting with a 19-year-old gaming creator, the next with a seasoned operator running a media business.

Who they're looking for

Honestly, this is more about who you are than where you've been. Your industry background can vary, and you don't need to come from the creative space. What matters is passion, energy, drive and enthusiasm, and the ability to genuinely connect with content creators. You'll need to be able to vibe with them, speak their language and be someone they want to work with.

You'll be a natural storyteller. You'll be able to sell the dream so that creators buy into the vision, and into you. You'll be impressive and articulate, the kind of person who makes a big idea feel exciting and achievable in the same conversation.

Ideally you'll have 2 5+ years selling a considered, high-value product or service, with a track record of hitting or beating target on pipeline you generated yourself. Experience of a complex sales cycle, or of selling something quite niche, would be really helpful. They care far more about what you've achieved than about a CV or a degree.

You'll be the kind of person clients come back to and refer on. You'll be numerate and commercially sharp enough to talk confidently about financial mechanics without dumbing them down. You'll be resilient too, because "not yet" isn't "no" to you. You'll stay useful, keep in touch, and be there when the timing's right.

You don't need to be a YouTube expert, but you do need to be genuinely curious about the space and quick to learn.

Backgrounds that could work brilliantly include:

  • founding or early-stage sales roles at start-ups or tech businesses, where you built pipeline with no playbook
  • business development at media agencies, PR firms or creator-focused companies
  • BDMs at finance companies selling to SMEs, such as commercial, invoice, asset or revenue-based finance
  • mortgage advisers or IFAs who genuinely self-source and grow through referrals

These are just examples. If you've got the personality, the energy and the storytelling ability, they want to hear from you whatever your background. Creator economy experience, or being a creator yourself, is a real bonus.
