Overview of the Data Engineer role
Sellick Partnership is supporting an organisation within the financial services sector to recruit two experienced Data Engineers on a contract basis.
This is a short-term project focused on enhancing and rebuilding key data extract processes within a pricing function, supporting efficient data delivery and reporting.
Key responsibilities of the Data Engineer will include
- Rewriting and optimising complex SQL code
- Building and transforming data extracts into structured output files
- Reviewing and refining query execution plans
- Supporting the development and execution of Azure Data Factory pipelines
- Managing code through version control systems such as GIT
- Working closely with pricing stakeholders to deliver against project requirements
- Ensuring all code is tested, validated, and production ready
Required experience/qualifications of the Data Engineer position will include
- Advanced SQL experience, including dynamic SQL and code optimisation
- Strong understanding of query execution plans and performance tuning
- Experience working in data engineering or project-based delivery environments
- Exposure to Azure Data Factory and pipeline execution
- Experience using Azure DevOps, including boards and repositories
- Knowledge of GIT or similar version control tools
- Proven ability to deliver against defined timelines and project deliverables
Desirable experience:
- Previous experience working within pricing or insurance data environments
