Job Title: Maintenance Engineer
Location: North East England (multi-site, field-based)
Salary: £36K DoE
Contract Type: Full-time, shift-based (including standby and call-out duties)
About the Role
We are seeking a skilled and proactive Maintenance Engineer to support the maintenance and operation across multiple different machines and systems.
Working on a shift roster, you will be responsible for maintaining a wide range of equipment and associated ICT infrastructure. The role combines hands-on engineering with remote diagnostics to ensure high system availability and performance.
Key Responsibilities
- Diagnose, repair, and maintain equipment to agreed performance standards
- Respond to incidents and service requests, ensuring rapid resolution and minimal disruption
- Monitor system performance and identify trends to improve reliability and efficiency
- Support major incident response and contribute to root cause analysis
- Carry out installation, configuration, and testing of hardware and software systems
- Maintain accurate records, asset data, and technical documentation
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and engineering developments
- Ensure compliance with health & safety, data security, and operational procedures
- Provide technical updates and liaise with control teams and stakeholders
- Support ICT projects and system upgrades
What We're Looking For
- Experience in maintenance, fault-finding, and repair of electronic or ICT-based systems
- 18th Edition IET Wiring Regulations (BS 7671:2018)
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to work independently
- Knowledge of networking, hardware systems, or payment systems (desirable)
- Ability to work in a field-based role, often as a lone worker
- Good communication and documentation skills
- Flexibility to work shifts, standby, and emergency call-outs

- Full UK driving licence (company vehicle provided)
- Ability to handle sensitive equipment and follow strict security procedures
- Willingness to undertake ongoing training and professional development
