Technical Project Manager

Drive the successful delivery of innovative consumer electronics products from concept stage through to production.

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Technical Project Manager, NPI Project Manager, Product Development Project Manager, Engineering Project Manager or Hardware Development Manager looking to take ownership of complex consumer electronics projects within a creative and fast-moving environment.

Working closely with international engineering teams and Asian manufacturing partners, you will ensure new products are delivered on time, within budget and ready for volume manufacture.

The Technical Project Manager Role

You will take ownership of hardware product development programmes, coordinating internal design teams and external manufacturing partners to ensure projects progress smoothly through every stage of the development lifecycle.

This position combines project leadership, commercial awareness and technical understanding, making it ideal for someone who enjoys bringing innovative products to market.

Responsibilities will include:

Managing the delivery of hardware product development projects from after concept through to production and supporting launch.

Coordinating cross-functional teams including electronics, software, mechanical engineering and external development partners.

Working closely with all design and manufacturing partners to prioritise engineering activities and remove project blockers.

Creating and maintaining detailed project plans, schedules and delivery milestones.

Managing project timelines using planning tools.

Collaborating with manufacturing partners to support new product introduction and volume production readiness.

Managing engineering change processes, RFIs, RFQs and product development documentation.

Monitoring project risks and implementing effective mitigation strategies.

Supporting supplier engagement, tooling programmes, manufacturing schedules and product costing activities.

Contributing to process improvement initiatives that enhance project delivery performance.

Ensuring products meet regulatory, compliance and commercial requirements.

About You

You will be an organised and commercially aware project leader with experience delivering projects within a manufacturing environment.

Strong understanding of product development, engineering and manufacturing processes.

Experience working with offshore manufacturing partners, contract manufacturers or supply chain partners.

Excellent project planning, scheduling and resource management skills.

Experience building and managing project plans using project management tools.

Commercial awareness with experience reviewing project costs, budgets and supplier quotations.

The ability to balance technical, commercial and operational priorities to achieve successful outcomes.

Desirable Experience

Experience in any of the following would be advantageous but not essential if you have a tenacious approach:

Degree/HNC/HND qualified in Engineering, Electronics, Software Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.

Proven experience managing complex hardware or consumer electronics development projects.

Project management qualifications such as PRINCE2, PMP or Agile certifications.

Consumer electronics, audio products, music technology or electronic instrument development.

Knowledge of CE compliance, certification and product approval processes.
