Salary: £80,000 - £100,000

Role:

One of my clients, a well-established Life Sciences SaaS company, is looking for an AI Engineer with strong experience in end-to-end AI workflow development in the Life Sciences, preferably in a bioinformatics, lab or clinical environment.

The role is part of a team focused on developing agentic capability to augment the existing product suite. This is a hands-on role requiring strong software engineering skills and experience in AI/ML model development and deployment.

Responsibilities:

• Design, develop, and implement AI models end-to-end (primarily using PyTorch)
• Work across the full software stack; implement solutions without over-reliance on high-level libraries
• Work with large-scale biological datasets (multi-modal data)
• Contribute to software engineering best practices, ensuring code quality, scalability, and reproducibility

Required Skills:

• Life Sciences experience (preferably working with multi-modal data from lab/clinical environments)
• Strong experience with GenAI, LLMs, agentic AI, orchestration systems
• Solid software engineering experience in Python (some Java would be useful)
• Proficiency in PyTorch for model development, and Docker/Kubernetes for containerisation
• Worked with graph databases (Neo4j preferably) to model, query, and manage complex biological and clinical datasets
• Experience building and deploying AI models (high level end-to-end understanding, rather than skilled with a particular tech stack)

Desirable Skills:

• Bioinformatics experience (computational biology or drug discovery experience preferable)
• Experience/knowledge with tools such as OmegaFold, DeepChem, RFDiffusion (or similar)
