Senior Backend Engineer - Golang
Senior Backend Engineer - Golang
London, Hybrid | Full-Time
Salary - £80,000 - 95,000 + Equity + Benefits
An early-stage, mission-driven technology company is building an AI platform designed to bring transparency to a highly complex global industry. With sustainability at the core, the platform helps large organisations make better, more responsible decisions by combining real-time data, pricing intelligence, and policy insight into a single product.
With an MVP live, initial enterprise customers engaged, and strong funding in place, the company is now entering the next phase of product development.
This role sits at the centre of that transition. You will join as one of the early engineers, helping scale the MVP into a production-ready platform. You will work across the full stack with a strong back-end focus, contribute to architecture decisions, and collaborate closely with the founding team as the technical foundations and standards are established.
Role
- Build and evolve back-end services for a data-heavy, cloud-native platform.
- Design clean APIs and scalable systems with a strong emphasis on reliability and maintainability.
- Work closely with product and data stakeholders to take features from concept through to production.
- Own services end to end, including deployment, monitoring, and operational considerations.
- Contribute to early technical decisions that will shape the platform's long-term direction.
Core skills
- Strong, hands-on experience with Golang in production environments.
- Solid understanding of Postgres or similar relational databases.
- Experience building and operating services on AWS or another major cloud provider.
- A product engineering mindset, with interest in the problems being solved, not just the code.
- Comfortable working with a high degree of autonomy and ownership.
Nice to have
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines and modern DevOps practices.
- Some front-end exposure (React or similar), though this is a back-end-led role.
- Experience working in early-stage or fast-moving product teams.
What you will get
- High ownership and influence from day one.
- The opportunity to work on technically interesting problems with real-world impact.
- Equity alongside a competitive salary.
- Hybrid working, typically two days per week in London.
- A small, senior team that values honesty, curiosity, and thoughtful product engineering.
This is a rare opportunity to join at a pivotal stage and help shape both the product and the technical direction from the ground up.
