PIP1 Investigator Location:  Moss Way Police Station, Sheffield, S20 7XX Contract: 15 month contract with likely extension Hours: 37 hours per week (Monday-Friday)Pay Rate: £31.55 LTD per hour About the Role: ovide technical leadership and subject-matter expertise for business intelligence and reporting during the implementation of a new Records Management System (RMS). The role exists to design, deliver, and standardise reporting solutions that ensure accurate, timely, and decision-ready data across the organisation.Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead the design, development, and implementation of BI reporting solutions using Oracle BI (OBIEE 11g/12c) and Microsoft Power BI.
  • Act as the technical authority for reporting, championing a consistent delivery model covering development, documentation, and user training.
  • Work directly with operational and functional users to translate complex requirements into accurate, actionable reporting.
  • Assess reporting requests for value and feasibility; challenge unnecessary demand and propose alternative data solutions where appropriate.
  • Deliver advanced data analysis and modelling, identifying trends, risks, and performance insights.
  • Resolve reporting and data issues through root-cause analysis, performance tuning, and process improvement.
  • Support critical programme and project deliveries, ensuring reporting aligns with RMS implementation milestones.
  • Produce clear, structured technical documentation suitable for handover, audit, and future development.
  • Stay current with BI best practice and emerging reporting technologies.
Essential skills and experience:
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in a technical BI or reporting lead role.
  • Extensive hands-on experience with Business Intelligence tools, including:
    • Report, dashboard, and data model design
    • Development, deployment, and ongoing support
  • Advanced knowledge of SQL / PL-SQL / T-SQL for data extraction and analysis.
  • Strong experience with the Microsoft BI stack, particularly Power BI.
  • Proven capability in data warehouse design and implementation.
  • Experience with release packaging, deployment, version control, and performance tuning.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple reporting workstreams simultaneously.
  • Strong stakeholder communication skills, including engagement with senior leaders and end users.
  • Comfortable operating in a fast-changing, delivery-focused environment.
  • ETL tools and data integration into Power BI.
  • Experience integrating legacy systems into modern RMS platforms.
  • Exposure to Agile delivery environments.
  • ITIL Foundation certification.
  • Previous policing or criminal justice system experience.
  • Prior experience working with NICHE RMS.
