£40,000 - £60,000 DOE (Full Time, Office Based) Overview Our client is hiring a Software Engineer to work on autonomy system within the electronics and software team. This role focuses on developing and extending ground control software for unmanned and autonomous systems. The work includes configuration management, real-time communications, vehicle control interfaces, and map-based mission planning. Key Responsibilities Design, implement, and maintain ground control features for unmanned vehicles. Extend and customise existing ground control applications and tooling. Implement configuration control mechanisms for vehicles. Develop and maintain structured configuration and mission data formats. Integrate and visualise real-time telemetry and vehicle state. Implement and maintain reliable communications links to vehicles. Support field testing, debugging, and operational deployment. Required Skills & Experience Configuration control for software and vehicle parameters. Structured data formats: JSON, GeoJSON, YAML. Map-based visualisation and mission planning systems. MAVLink or similar telemetry/command protocols. Qt (including Qt Widgets or QML) Linux development and deployment environments. Network communications: TCP, UDP, UART/Serial. Proficiency in one or more C-like languages: C, C#, C++. Strong modern Python skill-set. Desirable Experience Experience working with unmanned or autonomous systems (aerial, ground, or marine vehicles). Familiarity with real-time or safety-critical systems. Experience extending open-source software.
