Location: Gatwick (Hybrid)
Salary: £75,000 - £85,000 + Excellent Benefits
The Opportunity
Are you a hands-on engineer who loves bridging the gap between cutting-edge hardware design and real-world customer integration?
We are partnering with a leading global innovator in advanced visual interface technologies. As a Technical Field Application Engineer, you will serve as the premier technical authority for a sophisticated portfolio of display and Human-Machine Interface (HMI) solutions. Working closely with both specialized engineering clients and internal R&D teams, you will play a pivotal role in shaping how next-generation products are designed, optimized and brought to market.
Key Responsibilities
- Customer Technical Champion: Deliver both high-level remote and on-site technical consultation, guiding customers through complex hardware integration, troubleshooting and optimization phases.
- Design-In Support: Collaborate with the commercial team to evaluate client design pipelines, propose bespoke technical solutions and deliver deep-dive product demonstrations to engineering teams.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with manufacturing and internal engineering to ensure seamless product delivery while feeding critical market requirements back into the R&D roadmap.
- System Optimization: Actively resolve integration challenges on the ground, ensuring display solutions achieve peak performance within diverse host environments.
Required Technical Expertise
- Display & Touch Technologies: Deep technical understanding of LCD, OLED, and touchscreen architectures, specifically regarding their integration into complex HMI systems.
- Protocols & Hardware: Solid familiarity with display interface protocols (MIPI DSI, HDMI, SPI, I2C, LVDS) alongside practical knowledge of PCB layout principles and EMI/EMC compliance.
- Software & OS Integration: Proven capability configuring and tuning display drivers across Linux, Windows, or Android platforms. Strong scripting/programming skills in C/C++ and Python are highly desirable.
- Optical & Performance Tuning: Exposure to colour calibration, gamma correction, and optical bonding techniques to maximize display readability in challenging environmental conditions.
Qualifications & Experience
- A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a closely related technical discipline.
- 4+ years of dedicated experience in display technology integration, hardware application engineering, or specialized technical support within HMI-focused industries.
- Exceptional communication skills with the ability to translate intricate technical concepts to both internal teams and external client stakeholders.
- Flexibility to travel across the UK to support client integration sites as required.
What’s on Offer?
This is a brilliant chance to step away from a rigid internal design role and move into a dynamic, highly visible position where your expertise directly impacts product success. You will join a forward-thinking culture that rewards autonomy, invests heavily in R&D and offers a highly competitive salary alongside a premium benefits package.
