CCTV & Environmental Technical Support Officer Location: Epping, Essex Pay Rate: £20.00 per hour PAYE / £25.65 per hour Umbrella Contract: Full-Time, Temporary Hours: 36 hours per week (On-Site)

Seven Resourcing are currently recruiting for a CCTV & Environmental Technical Support Officer to work with a local authority in Epping, Essex. This is a full-time, temporary opportunity offering a competitive hourly rate and the chance to support critical public sector CCTV operations, environmental enforcement, and community safety services.

This is an on-site role due to the operational and technical nature of the position.

The Role

As a CCTV & Environmental Technical Support Officer, you will play a key role in delivering an effective and compliant CCTV monitoring and technical support service. You will provide first-line technical support, conduct operational system checks, coordinate maintenance, gather evidential footage, and support environmental enforcement activity across the district.

This role combines CCTV system management, environmental crime enforcement support, technical troubleshooting, evidence processing, and public sector administration. You will also provide back-office support to Environmental Enforcement Officers (EEOs), assisting with Fixed Penalty Notices (FPNs), data tracking, and enforcement reporting.

Key Responsibilities

CCTV & Technical Support

  • Deliver a robust and sustainable CCTV service for a local authority environment.
  • Carry out operational system checks, technical troubleshooting, and maintenance coordination.
  • Conduct site surveys and provide recommendations for repair or replacement of CCTV equipment.
  • Support installation feasibility inspections for permanent and temporary CCTV systems.
  • Provide first-line technical advice to colleagues and partner agencies including law enforcement.
  • Collect, process, and prepare evidential CCTV material in accordance with relevant legislation.
  • Attend court where required and prepare case files in line with statutory procedures.
  • Assist in forward planning and project work in the absence of the CCTV Operations Officer.
  • Develop and maintain knowledge of CCTV systems, infrastructure, and regulatory compliance.

Environmental Enforcement & Administration

  • Provide administrative and technical support to Environmental Enforcement Officers.
  • Issue and process Fixed Penalty Notices (FPNs).
  • Track FPN payments and send reminder correspondence.
  • Maintain accurate enforcement records in line with data protection and governance requirements.
  • Compile data reports to support data-driven environmental enforcement strategies.
  • Identify and record fly-tipping, fly-posting, and environmental crime issues.
  • Conduct site visits to gather evidence relating to environmental offences.
  • Support partnership working with police and other agencies in tackling ASB and environmental crime.

Governance & Corporate Responsibilities

  • Ensure compliance with relevant legislation including:
  • Police & Criminal Evidence Act (PACE)
  • Regulation of Investigatory Powers Act (RIPA)
  • Protection of Freedoms Act
  • Maintain high standards of safeguarding, risk management, equality, and operational probity.
  • Contribute to service improvements and innovation within finite public sector resources.
  • Support excellent customer service delivery to residents and stakeholders.

Candidate Requirements

To be successful in this CCTV Technical Support and Environmental Enforcement role, you should have:

  • Experience working with CCTV systems, monitoring services, or technical infrastructure.
  • Knowledge of public sector compliance, evidence handling, and enforcement procedures.
  • Experience in administrative support within enforcement, compliance, or local authority services.
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage data and maintain accurate records.
  • Understanding of environmental crime such as fly-tipping and anti-social behaviour (ASB).
  • Ability to work independently on-site and collaboratively within a team.
  • Excellent communication skills and attention to detail.
