Receptionist/Administrator

Job summary

As the first point of contact for our patients, you will play a vital role in ensuring they receive a welcoming and efficient service. Youll be responsible for managing incoming queries, booking appointments, handling administrative tasks and supporting the clinical team with day-to-day operations.

    Main duties of the job

    Key Responsibilities

    • Provide a courteous and effective reception service to patients and visitors
    • Answer telephone calls efficiently and direct patients to the appropriate services
    • Manage appointment bookings, including use of triage tools and hub referrals
    • Process patient information accurately using clinical systems
    • Respond to E-consults and email queries in a timely and professional manner
    • Maintain effective communication within the practice team and with external healthcare partners
    • Support other administrative duties as needed, including filing, scanning, and managing shared mailboxes

    Job responsibilities

    What Were Looking For

    • Excellent communication skills verbal and written
    • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail a must.
    • Ability to multitask, work under pressure and prioritise workload
    • Confident using IT systems (previous EMIS experience is an advantage)
    • Friendly, positive and team-oriented attitude
    • Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and professionalism
    • Flexibility to cover annual leave and absences as required
    • Available for shifts between the hours of 8am and 6pm

      Person Specification

      Experience

      Essential
      • Previous experience in a GP practice or healthcare environment or within a fast paced customer services environment
      • Familiarity with NHS procedures and patient confidentiality standards
      • Good standard of English both written and spoken is essential
