The NIHR HealthTech Research Centre in Paediatrics and Child Health (HRC-PCH) is a UK-wide initiative launched in April 2024 to drive innovation in paediatric health technologies for children and young people aged 0-25. Backed by £3 million in funding, we're one of 14 national HealthTech Research Centres advancing research and commercialisation of new technologies.
We're looking for someone to lead a portfolio of HealthTech Research projects across our devolved UK network. You will ensure effective planning, risk management, and delivery of research aligned with our strategic themes.
About You:

Experienced in managing complex, multi-agency research projects

Educated to degree level in a science/biomedical discipline

Project Management qualification (PRINCE / Agile)

Background in research, healthcare, NHS or academic environments

Skilled in communication, coordination, and workload prioritisation

Familiar with budget oversight and operational processes
Travel is required - your role will involve travel across 4+ UK sites for meetings, conferences, and stakeholder engagement.
Main duties of the job
Reporting into the HRC PCH Head of Operations, your responsibilities will include:

Project Management: Lead the implementation of paediatric HealthTech projects--developing plans, risk registers, performance tracking, and reporting systems.

Research & Funding Support: Coordinate research programmes and assist with funding applications and progress reports.

Stakeholder Engagement: Manage relationships across NHS, academia, and industry; coordinate meetings, workshops, and communications.

Executive Support: Provide administrative and operational support to Centre leadership, including diary management, meeting prep, and internal coordination.

Operational Systems: Develop SOPs, maintain secure data systems, and support business planning.

Qualifications and Training
- Educated to degree level or able to demonstrate and equivalent level of experience
- Evidence of on-going professional training
- Project Management qualification (PRINCE / Agile)
Experience
- Experience managing multi-disciplinary projects involving inter-agency working
- Experience of project management in complex organisations
- Experience of providing executive administrative support, arranging meetings, organising events and comprehensive minute taking
- Experience of managing sensitive and confidential information
- The development and organisation of research projects
- Managing internal team budgets
- Event planning / management
Knowledge & Skills
- Awareness of data protection, research ethics and governance processes
- Ability to analyse data and information, identifying trends and anomalies
- Ability to develop, maintain and update information systems and produce reports, including academic writing
- Ability to create and refine administrative processes and standard operating procedures
- Excellent administrative and customer service skills and understanding of how to handle sensitive information and correspondence
- Excellent IT skills and competent in the use of Microsoft Office and Google Workspace to create reports and presentations, able to present data in meaningful and engaging ways
- Ability to prioritise and solve problems working with colleagues to find solutions
- Excellent communication skills (both written and verbal) in order to competently prepare reports, business cases and presentations
- Competently manage own workload and work autonomously. Draft communications and manage calendars for senior executives
